Dont get your hopes up. For every 10 thousand promising articles only medical advancements only one ends up making any impact.

I'd want to know whether the new neurons actually contribute to the brain or just kinda chill there unconnected to anythng.

Getting the gel across the blood brain barrier may be the bigger breakthrough here. Plenty of promising treatments get blocked by that.
