Glad Oregons in this one. Losing at the Supreme Court and immediately showing up with a new excuse for basically the same tariffs is comical 🙃

Fuck Oregon

I like tariffs a whole lot less when they're treated like a presidential sales tax with no real limit. If the Supreme Court killed the first version, repackaging it under another excuse looks pretty cute. Make Congress vote on it and own the price increases.

Exactly. If tariffs are supposed to protect a specific American industry, make the case and put it through Congress. Letting any president impose broad import taxes by declaring a convenient emergency is terrible policy and an even worse precedent.

Exactly. The forced-labor rationale gets hard to take seriously when it somehow produces near-global tariffs right as the temporary ones expire. If the policy is defensible, put the rates in a bill and make legislators explain the price hikes to voters. This endless game of finding a new statutory costume for the same policy is executive power laundering.
